NetWho

Privacy policy

Last updated October 9, 2026

NetWho, for iPhone, iPad and Android, finds the devices on the Wi-Fi network you’re connected to and tells you what each one is. In short: nothing leaves your device.

What NetWho does

To find devices, NetWho talks only to your local network: it sends the standard discovery messages (Bonjour/mDNS, UPnP, NetBIOS, TP-Link Kasa), checks common ports and pings addresses on your network, and reads the replies. It never contacts anything on the internet: no servers of ours, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting.

What it keeps

NetWho remembers each network you scan and the devices it found there (their addresses, names and types, and the names, types and notes you give them) so it can show what’s new, what’s offline and what’s moved. This is kept in one file on your device. It isn’t sent anywhere, and on Android it isn’t included in cloud backups; on iPhone and iPad it’s part of your device’s own backups, like any app’s data. Deleting the app deletes it, and you can forget any device or network in the app.

Networks you haven’t scanned for 90 days are forgotten automatically.

Location

Your phone treats the Wi-Fi network’s name as location information, so NetWho can read it only with your permission. It asks only if you turn on “Use Wi-Fi names”, and uses the name only to tell your networks apart and label them. It doesn’t use or keep your location.

Children

NetWho isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect anyone’s information.
